Frequently Asked Questions
Which system is best for my use? -
It depends on the range that you require and budget. Look for a system
that satisfies your range requirements (with some spare).
What if I buy a system but it does not work at my required range?
- We are happy to exchange or refund any system that does not work as
expected. Our restocking fees for un marked products and un damaged
packaging is only 10%. Simply upgrade to a higher spec system or ask for
a refund.
How long can I expect my battery powered system to last?
- Depending on the system, most should last up to a year or more
depending on useage. There are high capacity batteries available that
should extend life.
Is it expensive to run a GSM intercom that uses a SIM card?
- Not at all. Most domestic and even light commercial users will
purchase a pay and go SIM card with £20 of calling credit. At 20p mer
minute, an average call will only last 10 seconds or so, which
translates to 3-4 pence per visitor. Therefore £20 of calling credit
will last for up to 6 hundred visitors. For some applications, this
might take more than 2 years to be used up.
The system I am interested in comes with a door/gate release
feature. Does this mean it includes a lock of some type?
- No. A lock release feature is simply a button built in to the indoor
handset that activates a voltage output on the door station or a relay
that can be used to either control a door lock or trigger a motorised
gate system into operation. We do not supply actual locks for doors or
gates, and recomend you consult a professional installer who can supply
and fit a lock which will comply with fire regulations.
